Venetian Plastering
Hand-applied, polished Venetian plaster finishes for homes and businesses across Bury St Edmunds and Suffolk.
What's Included
Venetian plaster is a polished lime-based finish, applied by hand in thin layers and burnished to a smooth, marble-like sheen. It brings depth and movement to a wall that paint can’t match, and works equally well as a statement feature wall or across a whole room.
Every job includes:
- A site visit to look at the walls and talk through colours, sheen level and where the finish will work best
- Sample boards so you can see the colour and texture in your own light before we start
- Full surface preparation — filling, sanding and priming so the plaster has a sound, flat base
- Multiple hand-applied coats, trowelled and burnished to the finish you’ve chosen, from soft matt to high polish
- A protective wax or sealer where needed, which is especially important in kitchens, bathrooms and hallways
- Careful masking and a clean, tidy finish at the end of each day
Where It Works Well
Living rooms, dining rooms, hallways and bedrooms suit a Venetian finish, as do bathrooms and kitchen splashbacks once it’s properly sealed. It’s also popular in commercial spaces such as restaurants, salons, offices and reception areas, where a premium, hard-wearing finish makes a strong first impression.
Because traditional Venetian plaster is lime-based and breathable, it can also suit older properties. That ties in with our period and listed property decorating work, and any cracks or damaged plaster can be put right first through our plaster repair service.
Looking After It
A well-applied Venetian finish is durable and ages gracefully. Most marks wipe off with a damp cloth, and small scuffs can usually be re-burnished or touched in rather than redone, which is a big advantage over many painted finishes.
