Privacy Policy
This policy explains how HJ Painters & Decorators (“we”, “us”) uses personal information collected through hjdecorators.com. We are a painting and decorating business based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. We are the controller of the information described here.
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us. When you use the quote form or the contact form, that means:
- your name, email address and phone number
- the service you are interested in and your town or village
- anything you write in the message box
If you call, email or message us directly, we keep the details you give us in the same way.
How we use it
We use your details to reply to your enquiry, arrange a visit, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, carry out the work. Our legal basis is your request to take steps before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the business and keeping sensible records.
We do not sell your details. We do not send marketing to people who have only asked for a quote unless they have agreed to it.
Where it goes
Form submissions are emailed to us at info@hjdecorators.com and saved in the website’s admin area. The site is run on a hosting provider that stores that data on our behalf, and email is handled by our email provider. We share information with other people only where the law requires it, or where a job needs it, for example a supplier or a subcontractor working on your property.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for business and accounting records. If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, ask us and we will do it unless the law says we must keep it.
Cookies and third parties
The site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google when a page loads and Google receives your IP address. See our cookie policy for the detail.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email info@hjdecorators.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
